Position Requirements

MTS employs between 20 and 40 new staff each year.   Recruitment will occur at various times throughout the year and applicants who match our requirements will be selected for interview.    Applications will be held on file for a period of 12 months from date of application. 

Applicants seeking employment with MTS must hold one of the following qualifications:

  • Certificate III in Non Emergency Patient Transport;
  • Diploma of Paramedic Science (Emergency Care);
  • Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic)
  • Registered Nurse Division I with current experience in intensive, coronary or emergency care and having completed a bridging course in ambulance practice; or
  • Or equivalent qualification recognised as equivalent to one of the above by an appropriate Registered Training Organisation.

Those with the above qualifications are also required to have completed the driving module  HLTAMBT1A – Transport non-emergency patients.   It is highly desirable that staff complete PUAVEH001A – Drive vehicles under operational conditions, and HLTAMBT2A – Transport emergency patients.

Previously attainable qualifications in the ambulance service are also valid provided the person has worked within the NEPT or ambulance sector within the last two years.

  • Diploma, or Associate Diploma, of Health Science (Ambulance)
  • Certificate of equivalence to the Associate Diploma;

 
Applicants must have a full driver's license, be physically able to perform the duties required, able to write and converse fluently in English and have an acceptable report from a National Police Check. 

Employees must be willing to accept shift allocations that include weekend, afternoon and night shifts.  In the majority of cases shifts are either 8 or 10 hours in duration and are operated on a 7 day per week, 24 hour per day basis.

A check list is included in the application pack.  Failure to provide all necessary parts of the application will prevent your application from being processed.  MTS will advise you of the progress of your application once received.
