Walking and Wheelchair Patient Transport Patients able to walk or to be transported in a wheel chair are carried to and from their medical appointments and therapies in specialised vehicles staffed by qualified paramedical officers providing a level of care that surpasses that available through alternative travel methods. Organisers of sporting events, film and television productions and other events involving high risk activities or numbers of participants or spectators, where there is a requirement to provide on-site paramedic standby services engage MTS to provide these services. MTS provides these services at horse racing events, AFL football matches, athletic carnivals and concerts. Neonatal Emergency Transport Services Based at the Women's Hospital in Melbourne; the Neonatal Emergency Transport Service (NETS) provides emergency retrieval and transport of critically ill and premature babies to four Intensive Care Units from anywhere in Victoria . When these babies are ready for discharge from intensive care, the NETS team assists in their return to hospitals closer to home. Since 1996 MTS has provided the transport officers to assist the team in the provision of these vital life saving services. At the heart of many of MTS's services is its 24 hour a day command and control centre at its the Headquarters, in Bayswater. Using modern telecommunications and computerised dispatching systems, MTS monitors and controls the activities of its fleet of ambulances. Authorised clients are able to directly access the computer dispatch system on line to make bookings and to view and if necessary amend in real time the status of bookings previously. Known as Net Transit this facility is an integral part of the Zoll Rescuenet RightCAD dispatch system used by MTS. |
